Bonjour.

C'est dans cette partie du territoire néerlandais qu'il y aura des combats violents en octobre 1944 et que la 82ème division aéroportée américaine va enregistrer des pertes conséquentes. Le but était de consolider la percée du XXXème corps britannique suite à l'échec de la partie terrestre de MARKET GARDEN à rejoindre les parachutistes anglais à Arnhem.

Il n’ya pas que l’intéressant musée à Overloon, il y à également et malheureusement le cimetière du Commonwealth

Sur les 280 tombes, toutes sauf une sont britanniques (ou du Commonwealth), 265 soldats et 14 aviateurs y reposent. La tombe restante est celle d'un soldat néerlandais. La plupart d'entre eux sont morts lors des combats d'octobre et novembre 1944.
