Apparement ce régiment est passé par Compiègne (puis Abbeville).
In preparation for the invasion of France and the Low Countries, the 57. Infanterie-Division was moved westward during April 1940 and assigned to the 4. Armee of Heeresgruppe B. During the subsequent fighting the division distinguished itself at Abbeville where it routed the French 4th Armoured Division and another French mechanized division. These allied forces had attempted to strike at the vulnerable southern flank of the German forces in northern France, and by successfully defending the bridgehead at Abbeville, the 57. Infanterie-Division gained the reputation as “a good fighting division”.
