Thank you for those pictures again! There seemed to be a lot of coverage of this occasion! My Granddad said he felt like Royalty when he came to visit.

I will speak to my mother about our own pictures etc, she has collected quite a bit of memorabilia from Domi (do you know him?) and I'm sure if she has time, she would like to join this forum.

Thanks again,

Edmund.

Please excuse my writing this in English - I would be quite unable to express the detail of what I wish to say in French.

My uncle, Peter Duff, was the wireless operator on Lancaster HK559. I have visited Gannes only once, in 1964, being shown great hospitality by the then mayor and his family. They met me at the station and took me to the cemetery, then to their house for lunch, when I took this photo. It was a colour transparency which has not scanned very clearly.

The young people are the mayor's son, daughter and a friend - does someone here know any of them, more than 40 years later? If so, please tell them that I still remember their kindness. As soon as I returned home I sent a letter of thanks (painfully constructed in French), and was sorry to hear from the mayor's wife that he had died just before.

Pourquoi aucune image, juste l'adresse ?

I thought fotopic did that ... Anyway, here is the link to the photo.

Something else maybe of interest - Peter was posted to 115 Squadron at Witchford on 25/5/44, about 3 weeks before the crash, and was promoted to Warrant Officer on 26/5. He was one of 8 children, of whom only one, his eldest brother and my father, had children of their own.

Hello

Nice picture, thank you. Very often in large families the next generation didn't want to reproduce the same schema. Are we allowed to use this picture free of rights in our site?
(a special mention regarding Sam, he sleeps so seriously...)

Sincerly
